Changes Recently Made to CRC’s Board of Directors
Austin, Minn. – Cooperative Response Center, Inc. (CRC) is pleased to announce that Shannon Thom, CEO at Henry County REMC in New Castle, Ind., was appointed to CRC’s Board of Directors at its December 10, 2019, board meeting.
Thom, who has worked in the electric utility industry for 24 years, will fill the vacated at-large board seat held by Jim Hathaway, general manager/CEO at Dunn Energy Cooperative in Menomonie, Wis. Hathaway will retire from his organization in early January 2020, making him ineligible to serve on CRC’s Board of Directors. In CRC’s Board of Directors election in May 2020, Thom will run for re-election to the board seat to serve a one-year term.
In addition to Hathaway’s departure, Board Treasurer J. Kevin Murphy, president of Southwest Tennessee EMC in Brownsville, Tenn., announced his resignation from the board just prior to its December 10 meeting. Due to the short notice of Murphy’s resignation, interest in his district 3 seat was not able to be determined in time for the board meeting. Directors chose to leave the district 3 seat vacant until interested candidates can submit their names for the May 2020 election ballot. The winner of this seat will also serve a one-year term. Since Murphy also served as CRC’s treasurer, board members opted to combine the position with the board secretary position. Accordingly, Board Secretary Larry Fenbers, general manager/CEO at Carroll Electric Cooperative, Inc., in Carrollton, Ohio, will now serve as the board’s secretary/treasurer.
“We appreciate the contributions of both Mr. Hathaway and Mr. Murphy during their tenure with the board,” said Chris Holt, president and CEO at CRC. “We wish them the best of luck in the future and look forward to working with Mr. Thom as CRC continues to grow and evolve to meet the needs of its membership.”
