Head Line CRC Awards $6,000 in Scholarships to Local Graduates

Austin, Minn.—Cooperative Response Center, Inc. (CRC) is pleased to announce the six recipients of its 2016 scholarship program, each awarded $1,000 for their post-secondary education costs. This year’s scholarship recipients are as follows:

Ian Brothers is a 2016 graduate of the Academy of Technology, Engineering, Math and Science in Abilene, Texas. Ian will attend Abilene Christian University in the fall to obtain a computer science degree.

Jasmine Edge, the daughter of CRC employee Wanda Edge, is a 2016 graduate of Grand Meadow High School in Grand Meadow, Minn. Jasmine will attend the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire to pursue a degree in psychology and occupational therapy.

Breyln Grant is a 2016 graduate of Sequatchie County High School in Dunlap, Tenn. Breyln will attend Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tenn., in the fall to obtain a degree in mathematics.

Karly Higgins, the daughter of CRC employee Ken Higgins, is a 2016 graduate of Soddy Daisy High School in Soddy Daisy, Tenn. Karly will also attend Tennessee Technological University and plans to pursue a human ecology degree.

Sarah Schramek, the daughter of CRC employee Julie Schramek, is a 2016 graduate of Austin High School. Sarah will attend Riverland Community College in Austin, Minn., in the fall and plans to obtain a degree in communications and library science.

Valentina Truong-Ferreira is also 2016 graduate of Austin High School. Valentina will attend the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities to obtain a marketing degree.

This is the eighth year CRC has offered a scholarship program to local graduates.

“Each year we continue to receive a number of excellent applications for our scholarship program,” said Chris Holt, CRC’s president and CEO. “When selecting our scholarship recipients, CRC not only considers the academic achievements of each applicant, but also his or her activities at their school and in the community. Great work to everyone who applied and many congratulations to this year’s recipients.”

In October 2015, students in the communities in which CRC has offices—Austin, Dunlap, and Abilene—were invited to apply for a 2016 CRC scholarship. The scholarship recipients were selected in May.
