CRC Celebrates Reaching 5 Million Meter Service Milestone
Austin, Minn. – May 2014 marks a significant milestone for Cooperative Response Center, Inc. (CRC). CRC is pleased to report that after 21 years of business it now serves over 5 million electrical and gas meters in the United States.
Based on an idea sparked by the aftermath of a severe ice storm in 1991, CRC was formed in 1992 by 19 Midwest rural electric cooperatives to help meet the needs of their members after hours. Initially only offering medical alarm monitoring services, CRC quickly met the needs of its membership by offering contact center services such as after-hours call answering and line crew dispatching. Now, over 21 years later of managed growth, CRC serves utilities in 42 states, representing more than 250 contact center members with over 5 million meters.
This achievement is significant in that it points to CRC as a leader in its industry. “Surpassing the 5 million meter mark is a testament to both our membership and the employees of CRC,” said Chris Holt, CRC’s president and CEO. “If our membership didn’t believe in us and we didn’t perform, we’d never have achieved this milestone.”
As with any company, growth is important to CRC and the communities in which it works. CRC currently employs 200 regular employees between its three locations in Austin, Dunlap, Tenn., and Abilene, Texas. To celebrate its 5 million meter milestone, CRC gave its employees CRC-logoed jackets and served meals on Wednesday, May 21.
